Pascal's Wager

If religion is seen as a game of risk, it can be broken down into the following 4 possibilities. This is an evaluation between theism and atheism.

1. Believe in God, follow God's commandments. There is God. Go to heaven. Jackpot.

2. Believe in God, follow God's commandments. There is no God. Time wasted.

3. Don't believe in God, don't follow God's commandments. There is no God. Time well spent.

4. Don't believe in God, don't follow God's commandments. There is God. Go to hell.

For a gambler, it would be sensible to believe in God from a risk perspective.

Another interesting thing I've noticed recently is that the Internet is becoming more and more atheist. Any atheist news will receive high publicity while Christians commentators get slammed every time.

Isn't the leap of faith similar to risk? Only that the risk is actually more rational. That's the thing with religion, if it can be rationalized and thoroughly understood, how great is this God? Christianity boils down to one single word, "faith." Faith is a decision, not based on any reasoning. Sometimes I have trouble dealing with that.
